For quite some time I've been making music, and I've never felt that I've actually reached a larger audience, which is kind of a downer. I've never been very interested in advertising my stuff on a larger scale, but now I'm thinking I should.

Other people mostly look at all comments so maybe that will help i think it will because i did the same.
Being active in the general community helps. You especially want to focus on being active in newsposts and in the audio forum, but you should also try to be active by doing collabs, reviewing other people's stuff, etc. The best method is probably to participate in a contest though. I participated in a contest on here that I didn't even place in, but my fans still went up by +30.
