Wow, that drum mix is amazing. I'm not in love with the wubbydubbyslubby-part at 1:55. I think the lead synth deserves some more low frequency space. It sounds kind of sharp at the moment.
Very nice overall track, though. I can't wait to have the same amount of mixing skills...

Good job, guys.

SkyeWint responds:

Hey there!

The drum mix is something I put extra effort into, for this song - I actually took all the low frequencies out of the kick and used the bass instead for the low end. The same bass sound is used to create the wobbles, so there's still some sub in the dubby section. I guess it could use a bit more strength though, that's true. :)

Your mixing is pretty damn good yourself, by the way! I hadn't reviewed it, but your piece Contemporary from the AIM is one of my favorites.

Wow, this is amazing. The ambient vocals in the intro create such an ominous atmosphere. I usually don't enjoy spouting on about how I feel like a dead warrior-spirit-ninja on a quest of world salvation, but that's kinda how this song afflicts me.

You deserve a WAY larger following, and therefore I will help you out with that right now.

I'm sure you'll do amazingly well in the deathmatch, lad. No doubt.
Keep up the good work!

TheBenjerman responds:

You're far too kind, good sir! I can definitely dig the dead warrior-spirit-ninja vibe.

Thanks for the follow!

I think we've got a winner...

Well done, Dex.

Man, this track was cool all the way through. I'm usually not into house music, but this was actually really chill. I liked the side chaining on the kick. Some of the melodies might not be entirely in-sync with my taste.

Faved and followed!

Keep it up.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't seen you on the frontpage. This is fantastic stuff. I'm usually not very into house, or the growl synth you're using, but you just did such a great freaking job with the mix and overall composition that I can't do anything else but dig to the beat.

It'll be an exciting challenge to meet you in the conceptuall ring of N G A D M.

Best of luck.

This is a really sick composition, man. The synth that starts off at 0:45 is kind of out of place. A little EQ tweak could easily solve that. But apart from the synth, this song is just really well mixed.

Incredibly great work. I wish you the best of luck in the deathmatch.

Cheers!

KabukiTunes responds:

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! I think I'm going to go back and do a VIP (variation in production) of this track, and when I do I will definitely fix those little EQ problems

I don't know which parts you did, if it's both the singing and the composition or just either or. Either way, the song itself is pretty neat, but the vocals sound pretty dissonant since they're a little out of tune. However, I digged the overall mix of the track, but sadly the piano vs. kind of brings certain parts down at some points. I think it's mainly because the key velocity remains sounds very static from time to time, which makes the track seem very synthetic, and that's something I'd rather not hear in a classical track.

Apart from the issues I mentioned, it's a neat song, and I hope I'll hear more of it.

Keep it up, lad/lass!

Troisnyx responds:

I did both. *blush* My singing was not a strong point at all. And I'll admit that my mixing is awful.....

Still, glad you otherwise liked the song. ^_^

Ok, so you've got some basics going, but your mix has a bunch of flaws.

Intro: The catchy melody gets my attention, but I'm a bit turned off by the distorted limiting. It makes the song sound uneven and somewhat unpleasant. I guess the only way you could fix that is by going to the bottom with whatever causes the noise (could be a result of exaggerated scooping).

Middle part or something: when the drums kick in I was also a bit ticked off. You seem to have placed the synths and the drums in the same frequency range. As a result, the two instruments are kind of different to separate from each other.
Easy solution:
- kick: boost the volume a bit, maybe sidechain the bass too.
- snare: (preferably) change the sample to something more punchy, boost the low mid freqs, add some compression and a tad of reverb. That way you might erase that sharp, biting sound that is created when hearing the synth and the snare together.

Maybe the mix is purely based on your own style, but from what I know of dubstep, the drums should be mixed way more punchy.

Anyways, keep it up.

Reali-tGlitch responds:

Punchy just doesn't quite fit the theme as well, in my opinion. Space screams less in your face. A good punchy snare is almost always a good thing, though.

I did go back and do some more remastering, hopefully this new version will sound better. I think it does. Balanced those kicks, got rid of some of the clipping, did some serious work with compressors in balancing the mid-range frequencies on the gliding sine synth. Pimpin' ain't easy.

I could totally hear this playing at the cluuuhb. Great tune, man. You've got yourself a follower.
The arpy lead that plays during the second riff is a little edgy with the mix. You should consider lowering the high-mid freqs a bit. Maybe add some reverb too, and that should settle it.

Keep it up!

//Kabalist.

Heeeeell yes, son! This I want to hear more of! Do you mind if I remix this track? It'd work so great with my stuff. Check it out, and you might see why. Orchestral electro going on.

Anyways, keep it up. You definitely earned yourself a follower.

Take care

//Kabalist.

Charmanzer responds:

wow thanks alot man!!! Sure do whatever you want to :)
I'm looking forward to hear it!
